Spanish Gems: Hotel Arredondo in Asturias

One of my favorite places we stayed on our last trip to Spain was in my very favorite region:  Asturias (just typing Asturias brings a smile to my face).  Hotel Arredondo is close to the seaside town of Llanes, Asturias.  With a marvelous country setting, it was a fantastic place to lay our heads for a few nights.

The hosts were friendly and a wealth of information.  They took lots of time with us, giving us maps (which I adored; I have a thing for maps) and showing us loads of regional sights to visit.  What a great resource.  We ended up visiting many of the places that were pointed out to us: beach and mountain sights, both.

Our room was nice with two windows overlooking different areas of the farm.  Even the bright, tiled bathroom had a nice view.  The lemon-scented soap they provided was out of this world.  Loved it.

On the hotel property is a llagar, where they make sidre from the apples grown on the property.

The house itself is lovely.  I could live there -- so many great areas to relax in, inside and out.

The grounds are beautifully manicured .  One or two times, we had an evening picnic under the old hórreo, which is set up with a couple of picnic tables alongside a small child's play area in the grass.

We found the location absolutely perfect to visit area beaches like these:

In addition, it was an easy drive to one of our favorite areas, the Picos de Europa.

Oh, and I can't end the post without mentioning the breakfast.  Hands down, this is the best bacon we've ever had.  With terrific coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice and great criossants, their breakfast was both a treat and a good value.

If you are visiting Asturias, I can't recommend Hotel Arredondo enough.
