Apache Trail

Yippee Ki Yay kit by Sherrie JD

One Saturday we drove east past Mesa, Tempe, and Apache Junction to follow a portion of the Apache Trail.  We stopped at an old "ghost town" that was scenic despite the kitsch, and had lovely views of the Superstition Mountains in the background.  At one point, we parked the car and took a trail for a small way.  Mark hiked up a hill to see the surrounding area.

We finally made it to Canyon Lake.  Seeing even a small body of water for the first time in a while was a treat.  I hadn't realized how much I took the presence of water for granted until we were out in the arid Southwest.  We got a nice view from the side of the lake, and Mark captured a good shot of a little bird in a tree.
