I have been able to drive across just under half of the U.S. twice, both times to Texas. One time across North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Texas. The other was a different route: through Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Both trips made me really thirst to drive across the entire US (on multiple routes). There is so much to see out there.

In this layout above, we are walking down a trail off the
Natchez Trace in Mississippi. It was so muggy, and there were a crazy amount of mosquitos. But it was so green, and unusual to walk down between the hills, in a place I always imagined being so flat!
