Fire

I've decided that fire has to be almost as fascinating to look at as the ocean or the clouds.

Even when a fire involves lots of work like hauling and cutting fallen branches and limbs, it's so rewarding to watch it once it's going.  It's an activity that sort of forces you into stillness, and also a required watchfulness, making sure it doesn't get out of hand.  Its warmth, the evolution of the embers and coal, the crackling sounds, the smell of wood burning...  It really touches every sense!
