Simple Things

I take pleasure out of simple things, not only in day-to-day living, but also including how I am entertained on a vacation.  It doesn't take a big city or blockbuster sights to wow me.  Instead, I am pleasantly content with wandering a village, taking in small details of a place, or just sitting in a natural setting reading or picnicking.

Our stop in Argómaniz, Spain was an overnight one.  We didn't do much there, but still enjoyed wandering the few streets near the hotel, as well as inside the Parador de Argómaniz where we stayed.  The accommodation is housed in an old palace, and has been tastefully decorated in soothing neutral tones with lots of light filtering through windows and doorways.  It's perched on a hill that overlooks the valley and plains spread out below.

The breakfast at this Parador was included (a great value, when that's the case).  And the upstairs dining room was beautiful.  I loved that old, wooden-beamed ceiling and the port-hole windows. Our room, though it faced an uninspiring concrete wall, was still pleasant for an evening snack and relaxing outside at the table.  For a getaway or overnight stop, the Parador de Argómaniz is a pleasant place to stay.
